Epoxy-Polyamide Coating System

MIL-DTL-24441 is a high-performance, epoxy-polyamide coating designed to protect exposed surfaces from environment attack. This two-component coating system is specifically designed to protect steel, aluminum, and fiberglass components of ships. Suitable for both exterior and interior surfaces, it can also be applied as a protective coating to bilges, tanks, underwater hulls and other surfaces requiring a hard, durable, chemical resistant finish. Available in primer or top coat versions.

We manufacture both Type III (three-coat) and Type IV (two-coat) versions of 24441.

MIL-DTL-24441 complies with Detail Specification MIL-DTL-24441D. The current revision (D) is effective August 27, 2009, superseding MIL-DTL-24441C(SH) 19 May 1999.

Both types offered:

  • Type III - Three-coat system for use where air pollution regulations restrict volatile organic compound (VOC) content to less than 340 grams per liter (2.8 pounds per gallon) of paint.
  • Type IV - Two-coat system for use where air pollution regulations restrict VOC content to less than 340 grams per liter (2.8 pounds per gallon) of paint.
